Frequently  Asked Questions

Is this a 5K Run or a 5K Walk and What Ages Can Participate?

It is both.  The choice is yours.  You'll be provided an official race time either way.  More than half of our participants each year choose to walk.  The trail is beautiful and flat and is stroller-friendly, too.

The event is open to all ages and abilities.  Many young families join us each year, strollers and all.  The route is off-road at Winding Trails and is safe for all.

Is this an In-person Event?

The 2022 Reid's Run/Walk 5K is being planned as an in-person event with safety precautions commensurate with social-distancing guidelines in place at the time of the event (April 30, 2022).  For the safety of our participants and volunteers we are prepared to take some or all of the following precautions: a) limit the number of participants and accept registrations on a first-come/first-served basis; b) eliminate same-day registration; c) eliminate an awards ceremony; d) require all participants to wear masks; e) screen all participants (e.g., temperature checks, attestations) the morning of the event; and f) utilize rolling starts.

Is the event being professionally timed?

Yes.  Your official time, as a runner or a walker, will be provided to you when you cross the finish line.

What does it cost to participate?

See our Registration page for our reasonable Registration Fees.  Donations are also welcome.  Net proceeds benefit the Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Program at Connecticut Children's

When is the last day I can register?

The last day to register on-line is April 29, 2022.  We do intend to have same-day registration.   But keep checking this website because things may change and we may not be able to offer same-day registration if COVID restrictions intensify to the levels we saw in 2020.

Can I volunteer to help with the event?

We can always use a helping hand with marking the route with signs, assisting with promotions, working the check-in table and other activities.  Contact Liana Boghosian at liana.boghosian@gmail.ocm
