About the Cause
Fighting Cancer in Adolescents & Young Adults
Whether you’re a regular participant, or looking to join your first ever Run, you’ve come to the right place. Reid's Run/Walk 5K is an engaging and fun event, geared towards people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Reid R. Sacco Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Program at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
Your participation will help us provide Adolescents & Young Adults (AYAs) diagnosed with cancer find the specialized medical care they need to meet the unique needs of this age group (15-39).

Every year, more than 90,000 AYAs are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. This population of cancer patients and cancer survivors had been under-served until organizations like the Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance, and programs like the Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Program at Connecticut Children's began to close the gaps between pediatric oncology and adult oncology.

The Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance is committed to advocacy and awareness in its mission of supporting research directed at finding better treatments and someday a cure for the cancers that strike adolescents and young adults.
